Change Visitor Visa to Study Permit (Part 3)

Change Visitor Visa to Study Permit (Part 3)

Detailed process

What are the conditions for tourist visa transfer? How to apply?

Changing your visa status from visitor visa to a study permit inside Canada has a 98% approval rate. If you’re taking prerequisite courses inside Canada as a tourist, you don’t need a student visa to do so, you can apply for a study permit instead.

Our customers are mainly the parents of international students, who are relatively older. It is not a secret to apply for a study travel visa, and the clerk has made a clear request for this. The first step to change a tourist visa to a study permit is to complete short-term prerequisite courses. The Canadian Immigration Service’s official description of the transfer situation: “A student who has completed a short-term course or study plan is a requirement for admission to a designated educational institution.” The Canadian Immigration Law provides a further judicial interpretation of the short-term course: “In Canada, you can take a six-month short-term course without a student visa.

The course should meet the following requirements:

  1. 1. The course must last for 6 months;
  2. 2. The course cannot be part of a long-term course;
  3. 3. You must be able to complete the course within your legal residence time (usually within 6 months after joining)

The key to a successful transfering visa from travel visa to study visa is to register for a short-term prerequisite course (prerequisite course) within 6 months, and your course institution must be on the DLI list (list of designated educational institutions).

After completing the short-term course and obtaining the university acceptance letter, you can apply for a study visa.

When the visa officer approves the travel and transfer, the detailed inspection is as follows:

  1. 1. Whether you entered the country legally during your legal stay;
  2. 2. Whether the course of study meets the above requirements;
  3. 3. Whether you have successfully completed the course and been terminated from accepting the long-term university course;
  4. 4. Do you have enough money to study and live in Canada?

As long as your study plan is carefully planned, your chances of success is  98% if you change your visa status.

Project 1: Québec’s English-language transfer

Close to McGill University and convenient transportation. It can be started at any time of the year and lasts longer than one month (depending on the entrance examination). The first month is 1,150 Canadian dollars (including application fee of 250 Canadian dollars + tuition fee of 900 Canadian dollars per month) and 900 Canadian dollars per month. The English tuition fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. There will be an exam before the end of the course.

Students must participate in the designated English Education Bureau vocational training program (according to PEQ immigration requirements, spouse’s work permit, three-year postgraduate work permit, children’s free admission), the security deposit is 1,250 Canadian dollars.

Project 2: Quebec Province French zero-based brigade transfer

The school is located in Montreal, a 3-minute walk from De la Savane station, which is easily accessible.

You must study French for at least 4 weeks, pass the school exam and apply for a one-year language study permit. The study permit can be extended several times. Generally, if you continue to receive education in Canada, you will not be rejected.

The tuition fee for the 4-week French course is 1,280 Canadian dollars, and students must pay an additional three-month language deposit and registration fee of 160 Canadian dollars when enrolling. The total cost is 5,280 Canadian dollars.

2020 start time: January 6, February 3, March 2, March 30, April 27, May 25, June 22, July 20, August 17, September 14, October 13, November 9, December 7.

Project 3: Ontario Travel and Transfer Project

This school is located near the Eglinton subway station in Toronto. It is an old language school. It is suitable for customers who have a good level of English, have a score of 4.0 or higher in the IELTS test, or have reached an EAP level in the entrance exam.

Entrance exam content: comprehensive test, listening, reading, grammar and writing. Except for writing, everything else is a multiple-choice test. The test takes 2 hours.

The grading standards for entrance examinations are as follows:

  • 37-49 points (IELTS 4 points / 4.5 points): The total time from level 400 to completion of EAP is 18 weeks, and the tuition fee is Canadian $6,160
  • 50-59 points (IELTS 5 points): The total time from level 500 to completion of EAP is 14 weeks, and the tuition fee is CAD 5,274
  • 60 points and above (IELTS 5.5): The total duration of EAP is 10 weeks and the tuition fee is CAD 3,900

After completing the EAP course, you can submit a student visa, and the candidate can directly enter the school’s professional courses. This school is a public university in Ontario. Business, computer and other majors are offered on the Toronto campus. A three-year work permit can be obtained 16 months after graduation. The school’s language requirements are significantly lower than other Toronto public universities.

Project 4: Ontario Learning Project

The school is located near St. John’s Cathedral in Toronto, with convenient transportation. It is a formal ancient language school.

With an IELTS score of 5.5 or higher or passing the entrance exam, students can directly enter the university through the train course, which lasts for 3 months and costs 4,655 Canadian dollars. You can submit your student visa after completing the university’s preparatory course.

After enrolling in the training course, you can directly enter most colleges and several universities without language scores. Including almost all public universities in Ontario, some universities in British Columbia and some private universities in Quebec, as well as some popular Ontario master’s programs.

A-level IELTS students with a score of 4.5-5 or failing the entrance exam but not reaching the preparatory course line must first take a 1-2 month preparatory course at a monthly tuition of $1,560. Preparatory courses are much more difficult to learn than through training courses, and students must work harder to pass the exam.

The 2020 start dates are: January 6, February 3, March 2, March 30, April 27, May 25, June 22, July 20, August 17 , September 14, October 13, November 9, December 7.

The total duration of short-term courses should not exceed 6 months, so we recommend that customers take the entrance exam or submit their IELTS test scores in advance, and reserve enough time for short-term courses.

The duration of the first study permit is determined according to the subsequent vocational course chosen by the student (usually 2.5 years of professional study).

Please note that if you want to apply for a master’s degree, the student’s average score must be higher than 80-85. 211 Engineering University can fully alleviate this situation, but not less than 75 points. If your college grades do not meet this standard, even if you enter the course by train, the choice of passing the master’s catalog is very low. College courses do not have this requirement.

Project 5: Ontario English Zero Foundation Project

The school is located near St. John’s Cathedral in Toronto, with convenient transportation. It is a formal ancient language school.

The school offers two types of travel transfer programs: Zero Language Foundation and Through Train, which are suitable for a wide range of customers.

The English travel plan from scratch does not require applicants to have high English proficiency, and you can apply for a student visa after learning the language for three months.

The three-month English tuition fee is 4,315 Canadian dollars, because the course is designed for students with zero foundation, which is relatively simple, usually as long as full attendance can successfully complete the course and can effectively improve English proficiency.

The duration of the first study permit is usually 1.5 years. The study permit can be extended several times. Generally, if you continue to receive education in Canada, you will not be rejected. The project starts every Monday.

Project 6: BC Savings Travel and Transfer Project

The school is located in downtown Richmond, Vancouver. Classes start every Monday. They study English for 3 months at a tuition of 4,225 Canadian dollars, but the cost of subsequent professional courses is 9,000-10,000 Canadian dollars. If the customer does not go to the school that issued the transfer visa after obtaining the student visa, all tuition fees will not be refunded.

It is estimated that the first study permit can last 2.5 years from the professional study permit.

Project 7: British Columbia (Richmond) Project

The school is located on Richmond No. 3 Road, close to Aberdeen Station. When enrolling, you need to pay a monthly language tuition of 1250 Canadian dollars, and pay 5,000 Canadian dollars or a one-time tuition of 6,000 Canadian dollars before applying for a student visa. If you do not study at this school after receiving your student visa, your tuition will not be refunded, and if you refuse to transfer, $3,000 will be refunded. Classes start every Monday, and the class time is more flexible. It is estimated that the first study permit can last 2.5 years from the professional study permit.

Project 8: British Columbia (Burnaby) Project

The school is located in the metropolitan area of Burnaby, Vancouver. At the time of enrollment, you need to pay CAD 8,880, which includes CAD 3,880 for 15-week short-term language courses and CAD 5,000 for certain vocational courses. If you do not attend this school after obtaining your study permit, you do not need to pay tuition; if your transfer is refused, you will get a refund of 4,500 Canadian dollars. The school provides a zero-based travel expenses transfer plan. Applicants have no English proficiency requirements, the courses are relatively simple, and students can receive serious education.

Class time: Classes start from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm every Monday. It is estimated that the first study permit can last 2.5 years from the professional study permit. The project also provides online courses that do not require classroom activities in Vancouver.
